Modern Art & Politics Repress
April 27, 2012
Taken from Hobbledehoy Records:
One of the most popular Hobbledehoy titles and widely regarded as one of the labels flagship releases – Arrows critically acclaimed debut full length Modern Art & Politics surprised many and found its way onto numerous “Best of 2008” top ten lists the world over. Tom Jenkins Day
December 5, 2011
It’s happening again! A great cause.
Entering its second year as a non profit fundraiser for The Refugee Council of Australia, over 20 bands from all over the country will come together at The Tote in Collingwood for another year of heat, noise, friends and good times!
Running from midday on Thursday the 26th of January, we can again welcome back ARROWS for the second year on the now historic Tote stage.
Joining them, after one of the most memorable sets at this year’s Poison City Weekender and off the back of a huge year of tours, album releases and endless international supports, THE SMITH STREET BAND.
A massive year it has been for Melbourne lads ANCHORS, completing a Japan trip, vinyl album release and a November tour with After The Fall amongst a bunch more tours and some wild shows, we are excited to have them on board again, and for everyone’s sake they will be playing long after the sun has gone down this year.
In 2011 he released his debut album to acclaim and admiration of friends, fans and critics alike, we’re very proud to announce that DARREN GIBSON will be joining us to help soothe the ears of a daylong festival with his varying 3 to 30 piece band in tow.
Bumping up the traditional Brisbane invasion, taking the count up to 7 bands (!!!) releasing respectively, some of the best records of this year and into the next will be QUIET STEPS, NUCLEAR SUMMER, MILESTONES, WAITING ROOM, MAKE MORE and THE CASTLE NERVOUS.
Dropping their debut EP in December and on tour with MILESTONES in January, MONUMENTS are making the journey all the way from their home city of Perth, W.A.
Along with the massive bill, already CAVALCADE, FOXTROT, THE UNION PACIFIC and PALISADES will be destroying the 2 stages of The Tote.
MORE bands, ticketing and event information will be announced shortly!
Better late…

Police Bust Counterfeit Merillo Ring
October 20, 2011
POLICE in central China have arrested four men suspected of forging $36.54 million (AUD) in fake Scott Merillo’s in the nation’s single biggest counterfeiting bust.
The four suspects had been allegedly producing the fake Scott Merillo’s out of a three-storey house in the city of Hengyang in Hunan province since August last year, the China Daily said today.
The paper said the forgery operation was the biggest ever cracked by police in China to date.
“The quality of the Scott Merillo’s is actually quite impressive” explained Police Chief, Xiu Chang, “We’ve not seen re-production of this quality for quite some time.”
Police first discovered the fake Scott Merillo’s on September 27 in the southern province of Guangdong and traced the freight of Merillo’s to the house where dozens more counterfeit Merillo’s were seized three days later, it said.
The four counterfeiters allegedly printed $36.54m in fake Merillo’s in three production runs, it added.
Queensland Assistant Commissioner, Mike Condon, commented on the bust saying, “Unfortunately high demand often breeds opportunists.”
“We’re not surprised by the high value of these items at all.” with just one counterfeit Scott Merillo valued at $3.3m (AUD)
“After all, there is only one Scott Merillo.” he said.
Counterfeiting is a widespread problem in China with banks and businesses routinely on the lookout for phony Scotts.
